A picket fence can add protection, and seems to be the most popular fence among homeowners.

Closed picket fencing adds a matching bar over the top, as well as the bottom, so it creates more of a private look. This type of fence is great for pools and front yards. It also adds a barrier to the side of a yard.

• Usually 3 to 4 feet tall
• 2"x3.5" top and bottom rail
• 1"x3" pickets in the middle of the fence
• 3" to 4" of spacing between pickets
• 4"x4" posts
• 6' sections from post to post
